I need a replacement pane, but I don't know what kind of glass to order . . . how do I find out what kind of glass it was that broke?

Different types of glass break in different types of ways. Please review the above table for a better understanding of glass types and how each breaks.

How accurate do my measurements need to be?

Very accurate! Measurements must be accurate to the 1/8th inch. Because some types of glass cannot be trimmed or cut smaller, having the correct measurements is of utmost importance. If doing the measuring by one.s self, GGS recommends the following:
  • Check measuring tape to be sure that it reads as small as 1/8th inch.
  • Be sure to include edges that may be hidden by frame or trim.
  • Ask for a friend.s help to be sure that the tape does not sag or slant while the measurement is being taken.

    How long will it take?

The length of time any order takes depends on the following aspects: Measurement Accuracy
    • Type of Project
    • Type of Glass
    • Etching
    • Custom Design
    • Installation

What thickness of glass do I need?

Glass thickness is determined by the function of the glass. For example, glass shelves intended to hold books must be much thicker than the glass used in a door light. For more specific information, please click here to contact GGS.

What makes glass more expensive sometimes?

The expense of a glass order can vary, depending on the same aspects that may affect the length of time in order fulfillment:

    • Measurement Accuracy − If you are unsure about measuring it yourself, let the Service Professionals from GGS do it for you!  If we measure it incorrectly, we won.t charge you if the glass needs reordering.

    • Type of Project − Different projects cost different amounts. For example, a standard shower enclosure without any bells or whistles will cost significantly less than a glass gazebo.

    • Type of Glass − The higher the quality of glass, the more the glass will cost.  For example, Art and Patterned glasses are not quite as economical as Tempered glass.  On the other hand, Annealed glass is more reasonably priced than Tempered glass.

    • Etching − Personalizing glass with an image or a statement may be done for a reasonable price, of course.  Etchings and sand blasting can be designed as grand as the imagination allows, which may effect pricing.

    • Custom Design − Standard designs are often more economical than custom ones.

    • Installation − Even though professional installation often saves customers both time and money, DIY is more budget-conscious than professional installation.
